This is replacement for a Whirlpool compactor that lasted only four years.
My new KitchenAid compactor has sleek exterior and quiet operation.
It compresses so well that I rare need to use solid pack mode.

The door of this compactor is flimsy when compared to the Braun that I replaced with the Kitchen Aide. It also lacks indicator lights to tell if the crusher ram is in the down or up position. Bad on KA for not adding such a simple feature. The air filter is a nice add.

Have owned trash compactor for 1 month. Quiet, does nice job, easy to use. Appears to be well made. One little issue is that side latch for internal compartment opens every so often and makes compactor drawer unable to close. I then need to relatch it. Not sure how to fix

Had one in a home years ago & remembered it was the only appliance in my entire home that never gave me any trouble. Slide in trash drawer in present kitchen only allows small can with no lid. Finally remembered this compactor & purchased. No smell, no wasteful number of bags that aren™™t filled & very nice look. A little pricey & had to give up a kitchen drawer to install but not one minute of regret!

We recently moved into a condo and found that the trash compactor was old & not working. It was >20 years old. We decided to replaced it, and are so glad we did! One trash bag a week! It is really beneficial in a place where space is a premium.

$1759.00, 3.5 years, $500 a year to compact trash. Drive screw broke and want $608.00 to fix it so now it will be $673.00 a year to compact trash. Im going back to regular trash cans that cost $22.00 a year for plastics bags.

I had a Kitchen Aide compactor for 25-years and it was fantastic. When it finally failed, I ordered this new one, but it doesn™™t work nearly as well. It doesn™™t compact the trash unless we put it on ™solid pack™ which is annoying when you want to throw something away and it is locked. If you use it in regular mode, trash stays up near the top no matter how many times you cycle the compactor. It is really just an expensive trash can!!

We purchased this compactor last summer during our build and it was installed last winter. The front panel has snapped off after less than a year of use. Unfortunately, because it was purchased months before install, warranty won™™t cover any replacement parts.

We had purchased different brand earlier this year and were disappointed that it didn't compact trash like our old one did. Our dealer allowed us to exchange it for the Kitchen Aid and we love it.

I have used trash compactors since 1983. My first two were 12" models. My first Kitchenaid was purchased in 2006 and has worked without fail for 19 years. I purchased this one based on hidden controls and the Solid (Locked) Cycle. On my older compactor, we manually stopped it at the bottom of the cycle to do the equivalent. It really does allow one to compact more trash before replacing the bag. This model also has a fan with the air filter, which may be a plus for smelly garbage (with composting, I try to keep this a trash compactor rather than smelly garbage). Bags are easy to find (local grocery store) or for me, costco.com.

My old KitchenAid compactor finally stop working after 15 years. The new KitchenAid compactor model KTTS505ESS fits in the original space under my countertop. I am happy with the design change and updated features this one has. I live in an area in Texas where there is no trash service so having this compactor is a must.

Great features that I will probably never use (odor fan). I only put dry trash in my compactor (garbage disposer) and NO glass, since we recycle. My last compactor (Jenn Aire made by Whirlpool) lasted me 40 years. I expect the same quality service from this Kitchenaid also made by Whirlpool.

I purchased this new compactor to replace one I installed 18 years ago, and am very happy with the current version! The interior controls make the front of the compactor very streamlined (the old model had the controls on the outside of the panel). The drawer rolls in and out very smoothly, and the foot control to compact the trash is a great feature! It's a bit quieter than the old model, but still quite noticeable when the compactor is run. It's quite impressive how compacted the trash is, when using the 'solid' mode.

I have owned similar trash compactors for many, many years and consider it an essential kitchen appliance. This compactor was returned under warranty on day one for the unit failing to operate when plugged in--that is, the piston compression cycle failed to initiate. The unit was receiving power as the fresh air system was running. I'm to receive a replacement unit soon and then hopefully can give it a five star review.

Compared to a previous compactor (Braun) that lasted about 16 years there is actually no comparison. The Braun was heavy, difficult to use and was prone to rust and breakdown. The new Kitchenaid was an easy install, simple to use, with quality workmanship and materials™¦so far so great.

The producet looks and works fine. The product is not registered, because when I contacted the company that you use to register products, they did not know what a compactor is and could not register. I also tried to register it online, but could not through the website. The company was able to register the new dishwasher that was delivered at the same time.

Buyer Beware! GARBAGE can
lh12345
3/23/2025
Buyer beware! Read Carefully about warranty. This item was backordered for many weeks. The delivery of the item wasn't timely for immediate installation. Once we were able to get the item installed there was an obvious issue with the door alignment and slide rails. When I reached out to KitchenAid, they shared that the item was only returnable for 15 days and sent a service tech out for warranty check. The service tech was not able to correct the issue and called the KitchenAid service line to share the issue and was told to press the button on the machine to ensure the compactor mechanism operated, called it a cosmetic issue and said that had to be addressed within 30 days and that we were out of luck. Shame on KitchenAid. I don't have high hopes for the other KitchenAid appliances we had installed. KitchenAid thanks for the $1600 "Garbage" can.

You should consider a trash compactor
Dana W NC

I know that trash compactors are not sexy nor required by many in their kitchen renovations. We have had one for decades and regularly compost and thus, have a very small bag of garbage each week. I like the sleekness and the lack of a smelly trash bag sitting in the way in our beautiful new kitchen. Kitchen aid has made the handle solid and sturdy and it mostly matches the handles on our other appliances. Our designer said she only includes trash compactors in about 2/20 renovations per year. I think more people should consider them.

This is my second trash compactor and I love them. Unfortunately, my KitchenAid which was barely six months old has had the welds on the door give out. I used the warranty and service appointment tool which was easy. Too easy, because it was never confirmed and no one showed up. Now after waiting another almost 30 days I scheduled my own service appointment. Disappointed in my experience as I choose KitchenAid over my previous brand for it's quietness. I hope the warranty is better than the customer service.

Replaced my older kitchen aid compactor that worked great with just pushing the pedal. Replaced the unit with newer model when we upgraded the kitchen with stainless steel appliance and spent over $13,000 doing so. Pedal doesn™™t work. Had repair person come out and they did nothing called again and had a service visit agin where they replaced the pedal. They then said said it works fine as you have to push pedal and pull handle to open unit even though the manual says the foot pedal is for hands free operation. Lies! When I said it wasn™™t working properly, I told that the tech says it works fine which it clearly does not.
So, I paid $1600 fora high end garbage can. Don™™t buy KitchenAid products. Just another big corp that steals your money and couldn™™t care less about you.
