We Call This Oven "The Thanksgiving Curse"

We moved in to a new house a year ago. Previous owners had installed this oven. We invite extended family over for Thanksgiving. Oven is running all morning. Open oven in the afternoon to remove entree; find oven stone cold, even though digital display says otherwise. We end up cooking food in the oven of a neighboring house, but some out-of-town guests have to leave before it's ready. You can imagine how we felt. Later we discover that installation guys had left plastic packing material over a vent. We tell ourselves, "Maybe this is what happened." We remove plastic, and have no problems for many months. Thanksgiving rolls around again. We manage to get the turkey roasted, and then...IT HAPPENS AGAIN. Oven won't heat up. No side dishes get cooked. 24 people wonder what the heck is going on. The digital display still functions, but oven is cold. We turn oven off and try every hour or so...some six hours later the oven finally responds and begins to heat up. By then we've divvied up the casseroles into mini pyrex dishes and used our TOASTER OVEN to do the job our Kitchenaid oven won't. We weren't looking for it, but one day while digging around in the basement, we found a box for a replacement computer display. We feel pretty certain that the previous owners of the house had had the same problem with the oven. I think the only reason it's not happened to us more than a handful of times, is that we don't often host the sorts of events that require us to cook for hours and hours, thus causing something in the oven to overheat and malfunction. We've looked online and we are not the only ones furious with this oven. One gentleman suggested that the problem is the location of the oven's vents. They are on the front, and one sits directly below the computer display. Given all of the complaints online, there is no way that Kitchenaid is not aware of this problem, and yet they continue to sell this thing.

Cooks really well. Flame is easy to control and micro adjust, easy to clean. So far so good. Way better than the Bosch it replaced. The only downside is the fan is somewhat loud when convection baking.

My range is now 2 years old and I wish I had seen it 'in person' before my purchase. The grates are so heavy that my front stainless strip is scratched from moving them. BUT, the left grate has a wok insert that makes my pans wobble--and that is where the only big burner is. I thought it was my old pans so I bought a new set of All Clad and discovered that it's the insert that isn't steady--hate it! It's not possible to reverse the sides or even to replace that grate with a solid one (like the one on the right side). The oven also takes forever to heat up, maybe 15-20 min to reach 350.....

Poor design Steam causing door handle to detach And noisy

I purchased this range because it was a duel fuel which really thrilled me. I love cooking on gas,which in this case is a convert to Propane, because of the excellent cooking. Adjusting the flame for proper cooking took many tries. The oven takes a significant amount of time to heat up. Many times as much as 18 minutes to heat to 350*. This seems excessive and loses heat throughout the baking cycle. I recently purchased a kitchenaid mixer for baking and sadly most projects that are baked have not turned out well because of the oven heating issues. Also the fan noise while you use the oven and the large dual burner for boiling water is very noisy and causes a rattling of the range. Most disturbing to me has been the door handle and panel detaching from the inner door. It started after I noticed more steam coming out of the top of the door during the oven cooking cycle. It condenses and runs down the exterior of the oven and fills the control panel fogging the display. As a result of the steam, the door handle glue loosened to the point that they handle came off on the left side. I had a service technician through the retailer I purchased this appliance from repair and replace the door exterior portion in July 2015. Now, less than 2 months later the door handle is loose again. I used the oven self cleaning cycle 2 weeks ago and I'm wondering if that has caused this along with the steam from the vent exiting the front door handle area. I've called customer service at kitchenaid and all they can do is tell me I'm out of warranty and they can set up a service call and charge me for it. I have an extended warranty so I declined to pay for a service call. I'm sure the retailer that my service can repair it again but how many more times will this happen I think KitchenAid could do more. Don't you? Someone should redesign these flaws and make repairs or replace appliances that fail due to design. When a customer reports these issues why should they have to pay? It is a pretty stove but it rusts along the burner plates and the top of the gas stove is constant cleaning job. The grates are very heavy, so if you work out you'll be fine. It scratches easily so only use a soft cloth and dish detergent or water. Overall I regret the purchase. I was limited in the available choices and had always felt KitchenAid was a top notch brand. With this product they have missed the mark.

My first experience to cook with gas

I am loving my 30-inch 4-Burner Dual Fuel slide-in range. I've been using it for about 6 weeks now. It boils water and cooks so much faster than electric. I love the electric oven and really have enjoyed the warming drawer feature under the oven. I'd recommend this range to anyone! So glad I selected this KitchenAid over the others I looked at.

This stove came with our new house and we love the features. It cooks evenly and cleans easily. The only thing wrong was the burner location pictures by the knobs didn't match the right burners. We had to use a black marker so we would know which was which . Overall very pleased.

I bought this appliance to replace a 20 year Jenn-Air that had seen better days. Great combination appliance with the gas cook top and electric oven, same combination that I had with my built-in appliances. It has been a pleasure to use and I love the continuous great surface that I did not have with my previous cook top. I have had it for over 6 months and have no regrets. Range operation is excellent and operates exactly as promised. The unit is versatile and powerful in its options and capabilities. I'm very pleased and consider it to be a valuable additional to my cook's arsenal. The controls, though, are complicated and somewhat difficult to use. The manual could be a lot easier to decipher. It certainly is not intuitive. Other than that, it's certainly a great value for the money. Best in the class, to be sure.

The range is aesthetically pleasing & fits in well with our "traditional" home. Our microwave is above the stove & I do find myself accidently bumping into buttons on the stove when I use it but if you turn on the control lock its not really a big deal. The biggest con I'd have to say is the heat up time on the oven. It's not absurdly long but it is just long enough to make you grrrrr a little. All things considered its a pretty awesome range. Love that it is dual fuel. Would definitely recommend if you don't mind a few quirks.

I was happy with this oven until it broke down after owning it for a little over one year. The blower that cools the oven was never installed correctly and it was not working according to the repairman. It cost me over $300. To get the stove fixed after it broke down during a cleaning cycle. I thought this was a high end appliance, and I did not need the warranty, I was wrong!

We replaced our old electric range with this dual fuel range. I like the gas burners, easy to control heat. I don't care for the oven. It takes an extremely long time to reach temperature and the fan runs the entire time and creates a TON of noise. The touch screen is very sensitive and beeps even when brushed up against lightly. Also didn't expect the large space between the back of the range and wall. We had to order a special piece to cover the space

Cooking with Gas Baking with Reddy Kilowat - The best of two

We have had this dual fuel range/oven for a couple of months and are delighted with its performance. We replaced a five-year old, all gas range/oven with this model and wish we had purchased this unit five years earlier. The range burners are well sized and we especially like the dual ported burner; it's great for simmering, small pots and for high heating of large pots. The wok stand feature is also a great plus and is used frequently. The electric oven maintains a constant temperature and the convection feature is excellent for decreasing baking time for meatloaves and large roasts. The range top cleans more easily than any range I have ever used...even easier than flat top electrics. The warmer drawer is great and is especially useful when the whole family comes to visit; when folks are ready for second helpings they are treated to food that is still warm, not stone cold. We even were able to enjoy a breakfast of bacon, eggs, and grits one morning when the power was down because of a fallen tree.

I have mixed feelings about this range. Overall, I am happy with the cooktop. Unlike other compaints, I think the heavy top grills while somewhat heavy for cleaning under, are strong and durable. Having the entire surface for placing pans is fantastic.The smaller burner is a simmer burner, simply put. There are 2 other size burners if you need more BTU's, that do great. My biggest complaint is the oven. Like others, the heating time is ridiculous. It took 25 min to heat up to 375. I have not had any success in baking. All of my baked goods are burning on the bottom. I have tried different cookie sheets, time and temperature. But what I hate the most is that the oven is noisy. During the entire time of baking the internal fan runs. After baking my Thanksgiving turkey for 3 hours, the fan noise got to be a bit much. Also, I would like to mention that I used the "bread proof" function. It was awesome. Living where it's cold, it is often hard to have it warm enough for yeast dough. It worked great.

The oven takes 20 minutes to pre heat to 400 degrees. I'm sure it's because the element is under the metal oven bottom. I'm still trying to get use to the left front double burner.

I am so glad that I choose to get this wonderful dual fuel range! I was concerned with some of the negative reviews saying it was a horrible product. It fits perfectly in the space like a built-in. The oven bakes evenly and loved using the panel display. It is user friendly and sensitive to touch but I haven?t had any problems with bumping into it accidentally. If you do, you?d also have to hit the start button?nonissue for us. The cooktop cleanup is so easy and the heavy grates make it feel more substantial. The heat time isn?t ridiculous slow but it isn?t rapid quick either. I think it is suitable and comparable to other ovens used. We did have to order the gap filler that should?ve been included. The store where we purchased included it for free because the salesman said we should have been offered it. I think the optional accessory is something most installs would need. I was preparing myself for the range to be so noisy and it isn?t noisy. It does make sounds and will come on when you using the range top. It is not in anyway obnoxiously loud.

We bought this when we redid our kitchen - just had room for a slide in - wanted convection but had to have gas burners and this fit the bill perfectly. Oven was fine, broil worked well. The power burner worked great from simmer to a high flame for a quick boil - we primarily used that one, the other were all a little weak if you needed to boil a couple things at once but fine for a longer cook or simmer. However, one day last week just wasn't heating up past 300 and we called our repair guy (who is great BTW, reasonable prices) and we both thought a coil would need replaced - turned out the main circuit board went, the igniter was broken and one more thing - would be at least $900 to fix - he said it would be likely to go again and suggested not even getting it fixed (and they are not associated with a store or sales, just repairs) . Said this oven just has too many things on it and something/everything is bound to break. Said Kitchen Aid is a generally good range just not this one - too many toys to break - and we barely used any of them. Oh and we also loved the warming drawer - Ugh - Ugh Ugh --- Hate this range now!!!!!!!!

I bot this range approximately a month ago. I love the electronic flame lighter. You can use the warmer for pan storage when not being used. The wok feature is a great idea. I only wish I had a larger space to have purchased one with a grill. I also like having the oven electric.

new to gas cooking

Bought this during our kitchen remodel and everyone said get a gas stove. I like the control of the heat. But it takes for ever for water to boil--I had heard it would be quick! And it takes a very long time for the electric oven to preheat. Baking though is very good.
