We built a new house and used KitchenAid for most of the kitchen. This cooktop looks great however, we found the cooktop more difficult to clean than our last KitchenAid cooktop. Also, we had an issue with the lock feature, we had the lock on and a burner started up without any indication fortunately no damage. We have this issue being addressed by KitchenAid.

I love my new cooktop. Heats up very fast - love the simmer and keep warm settings - they actually work. It is supposed to be wifi capable - but I don't have that working yet. Asked Kitchenaid for help - but they didn't know either.
Each burner has 20 heat settings - this feels a little too many - the button presses take a long time to get to the med - 10 setting - it is about 12 button presses to get to that and the interface is slow - so that is time consuming.
Oh and the other thing that is annoying - if you wipe the cooktop off with a damp cloth - it begins to beep - until you dry it - I am sure there is an electrical short created by the small amount of water left from my damp cloth - but really - it beeps til you dry it.

Dangerous cooktop

I owned a kitchenaid smooth too cooktop with touch controls for 18 years prior to the purchase of this model KCES956HBL00. This new model constantly beeped when wiping it clean. No buttons would light up but constant beeping. It would even beep when sitting something on top of it. One night after cleaning it the beeping went on for at least 15 minutes then it showed an F2 E1 error code then continued to beep randomly. That error code wasn't in the book that came with it so I called kitchenaid. They set up an appointment with a service tech. The service techs company called me and said based on that error code I needed a new circuit board that they needed to order. The service tech came and replaced the circuit board yesterday morning. After the replacement we tested it out some. My cooktop now does some things that it didn't do prior to the board change that I now deem very hazardous. When unlocked and wiping with a damp discloth or my bare hand I still get random beeps but no lights come on the cooktop. If I wipe across the control panel with my smooth hand not pressing down just gliding across or with the damp rag sometimes it thinks the buttons to turn on burners or the WiFi option have been pressed. It will be waiting for a command such as burner level. Sometimes after waiting for a burner level command without touching it in any manner whatsoever the burner will automatically go to level 1 then switch to level 20. This is the part that is dangerous. When the cooktop is locked sometimes it doesn't unlock as it should. Everything is very random and inconsistent. However the company says it is working as intended. If that's the case it would work that way consistently. I have video proof of what is happening. The company doesn't even want to see it and take a look for themselves. If it's supposed to work that way why didn't it do that before the circuit board was replaced. The first tech guy that came out called in the burners coming on but they said it was working correctly. I called back to kitchenaid. They sent a 2nd company out for a second opinion. This morning they told him it's working as it should! I'm beyond frustrated. I can't add the video from my phone but will see if I can somehow go back and attach them. If I can't please feel free to contact me and I will send to you.

I had a Caldera cook top that I loved, but when the computer started doing its own thing (after about 10 years) I found that the company was no longer around. My desired features were "touch controls" and a timer. The KitchenAid almost fit in my existing cut-out and I have always liked the brand.
However, after a month I am still having trouble with 2 things-trying to control the burners getting too hot and cleanup. I am finding it harder to clean up spills in this cooktop than my previous one.
