shelves without significant ease of use

I bought this a month ago as a replacement for a built in GE that failed and part was not available. Thsirefrigerator fits well, lighting inside is meiocre. The shelving a d drawers are mundane without special bins for sheeses or enough room for veggies. The Freezer compartment is relatively small compared to other refrigerators The right door slams very hard

In less than 30 days the door hinge is broken and there is 12 weeks back order on the part. $10k for a refrigerator and no one will even pick up your call for a resolution. Buyer be aware! The lack of customer service is concerning.

I am not happy with the sound that the icemaker makes. I feel that it should be quieter considering how much we spent on this refrigerator. I also feel that the produce drawers are too small. I had an older version of this model and those drawers were much more useful.

This is the 3rd Kitchenaid built in refrigerator I have purchased for my current residence. The first 2 units quit working with repair parts no longer available. The second one lasted 14 years and 1 month. Hopefully this one will last longer, or at least have repair parts available. I am disappointed that with the other 2 units, I could open the door and easily see the inside temperature. With the new model, I can only push a button and see what the temperature should be, not what it actually is. Not very impressive for a $10,000 refrigerator.

DOORS SLAM SHUT!

We bought this refrigerator and the french doors slam shut and everything on the door rattle. The installers and the sales people tell me that is how the doors close. Not too sure a $10K fridge would haqve doors slam shut and not close silently.

The space in the refrigeration is great. I do wish there was a butter compartment. The door squeaks and the repairman said he was not authorized to spray with silicone.the freezer is kind of dark and smaller than I expected. The drawer space is good in the refrigerator.

Bad Value; Customer Service, Expensive Repairs

Bad Value for Expensive Built In: We inherited this refrigerator when we bought a 3 year old home with new appliances, this was one of them. A week after moving in, all the lights except 1 went out. They were nice enough to send out replacement lights, but those didn't fix the problem, so we had it serviced. The certified technician said that the LED board has to be replaced and quoted us >$500. We were surprised, and have been trying to get support from the manufacturer since. We tried to get ahold of customer support to see if they could work with us. After waiting an hour one time, we got transferred and disconnected. We called back and elected for them to call us back when it was our turn. That never happened. After almost an hour waiting on the phone again, we decided to resort to leaving a review hoping we could get some help. We've done all the required maintenance, including vacuuming the coils, keeping it cleaned, replacing the water filter for the ice maker, etc. We don't feel spending hundreds of dollars to repair an expensive board after just 3 years for a very expensive unit should be the case for a unit that's supposed to last 15+ years. Nor should we have to spend multiple hours on multiple attempts to not have the issue resolved, with no support. Stay away! Go with a more reliable, less expensive model from another manufacturer.

Rebate doesn't work

I purchased $22727.51 of Kitchenaid appliances to include (kbfn506ess, kcgc506jss, koed530pss, kmbp100ess, and kdtf924ppa), and installation. I factored in the rebate to offset my overall cost, as I compared the Kitchenaid Appliance package to other models. I am having a very difficult getting my rebate approved. I have included all of my documentation in the online rebate/promo form. The system keeps telling me to update the serial numbers. The link does not work, and the phone number on the mail in rebate form lets me listen to an automated message, then select update serial numbers, and then kicks me out. The appliances look good in my kitchen; however, I was promised a rebate, and I would like it.

I paid more that $10K for a ™€œHigh-end™€ refrigerator and it is a piece of junk! Within 2 years the door hinges failed so the doors don™€™t stay closed, and the ice maker stopped working. Along with that, the unit does not have an ™€œopen door™€ alarm, which units ten times cheaper have. It it garbage so don™€™t waste your money.

First one Lasted 20 years.

We owned this model refrigerator for 20 years and when it failed we did not want to modify the cabinets so we purchased it again. Hopefully the new one works for 20 years too. The first one had a single door and we purchased a French door style. I think we prefer the single door. Additionally the doors spring squeaks something terrible after just 2 months. The instructions do not say, but there is a stop block at the top door hinge to limit the degrees of the door swing so it does not hit the cabinets or counter-top. The doors dent very easily so it is important to set these blocks right away. The "professional" installers had no idea about the door swing restrictors. I had to figure it out myself.

Very expensive fridge and it's awful. The drawers are very cheap, they don't slide well, or close well, you can tell it's not quality made. Just like everyone else, while the website description says the LED lights last a very long time, less than 4 years and half the lights don't work. Based on the other reviews, it seems like the lights not working is a common issue that they won't fix. Unfortunately, you also can't easily replace the lights yourself, you need a technician to come and fix it, of course, an added cost to the customer.

Poor quality control. The evaporator is leaking water inside. Just is a sign of time maximizing profit over pride in craftsmanship. My first kitchen aid refrigerator that was replaced lasted 25 years. This is another Boeing story about American manufacturing. Trying to get it fixed.

Expensive fridge that refuses to get cold

I have had this fridge for over 3 years and it has had continuous issues. This issues included bad door hinges, LED lights coming in and out, and the worst of all is never being able to keep it cool. I've spent too much money trying to address the cooling through KitchnAid's "Authorized Servicers" but they refuse to replace the part and just temporarily fix the issue. So after 2 months of the "Fix" my fridge is back to having an internal temp of 45-50 degrees. The cooling system (where the sensor is) is always frozen over and the only way for it the temperature to get down (which is still only ever around 39-40 degrees) is to leave the fridge open for the day to let it defrost. Its been extremely frustrating and I've had just about enough of all of the problems this fridge brings me. There is only 1 authorized servicer in my city. It has been extremely frustrating working with them as they would take weeks at a time to "diagnose" the issue and will refuse to consider changing a part. I will give credit for never having a problem with the freezer.

We bought this fridge 6.5 yrs ago and have had various small problems (squeaky door hinges, doors not sealing shut, led lights stop working) since the beginning until about a month ago when the freezer stopped working followed by the fridge a week later. The diagnosis is a leak in the coolant system and we have been told that this part is not replaceable and our fridge is totaled. The coolant system is under warranty however this model does not offer a replacement part and our request for a replacement fridge has not been approved, but rather 25% off a new fridge™€¦is this reasonable? This has been so stressful!!!

6 year old faulty cooling system not repairable

We had this ™€œbuilt-in™€ refrigerator installed in our new house in 2017. It was part of a contractor package so our choices were limited. It worked well for the most part over the past 6 years, but had repeated problems with door alignment, loud hinge noise, and faulting magnetic seal; all of which defied repeated repair attempts. Now in 2023, the cooling system failed due to a coolant leak. The warranty says the parts (if available?) should be covered up to 12 years, but the labor would not. We are willing to repair it under those conditions, however, the certified technician says it cannot be repaired, the only option is to replace it. Whirlpool then only offered us a 20% discount on a new one, proposing a $7000 charge to replace a ™€œhigh-end™€ appliance only 6 years old. Does this sound like the warranty is being interpreted correctly? Very disappointed.

WORST FRIDGE EVER

This is the worst fridge ever. Please do not buy any kitchen aid products. We have been having issues with the fridge since we bought it. The 1st issue was that the door was squeaky from day one. Since it was under warranty, they fixed it but it took months to get it fixed and get someone from customer service to schedule an appointment. After the 1st problem got fixed, 6 months later the door didn't close properly and now the fridge is outside of warranty. The fridge is only 3 years old. the company is charging thousands of dollars to sign up for warranty for a product that is already defective. THE WORST COMPANY EVER AND ALL THEIR PRODUCT IS AWFUL!!!

We've had this unit for 3 years, and the harness for the interior lights will be replaced for the 2nd time. What's up with this??? Has the harness been improved? I sure hope so. Also, ever since the fridge was installed, the upper right door will not close properly by itself. It technician said it couldn't be fixed. Eyeroll.

This is my second Kitchen Aid refrigerator and even though I never saw a floor sample, I'm very impressed with the new design. Unlike my first one, the motor of the new fridge is hardly audible. The interior lighting is another power saving feature, the lights turn from dim to bright. The shelving and door built out give plenty of space as well as the freezer section.

Great temperature control

The refrigerator and freezer section both control temperature well and food spoilage has been reduced. This unit replaced a sub-zero and my utility bill decreased. It is also silent compared to the sub-zero. Best investment we made in the kitchen.

Constant Issues

We bought this back in 2018 & have had constant issues with it. Luckily, our first issue happened within the one year warranty (door hinge making weird noises) but unluckily the next year the noise came back. Now we are experiencing an issue with the circuit ™€" completely unacceptable for a product so expensive. Extremely disappointing.

I bought the refrigerator 6 months ago.. It was supposed to have been delivered in October of 2020 but it never arrived. Was told by Albert Lee Appliances that it probably won't arrive until sometime after August.

Thanks for asking. This is our 2nd KitchenAid. Previous was a side-by-side and we loved but redid our kitchen and added 5 new KA appliances. Our new refrigerator is the French Door. Several comments with it. First, the ice maker is most inconvenient. It is a real pain to get to for off/on. We have back issues and its a strain to get to the lever. Why don't you put it in the front with an easy on/off switch. We don't want a door ice dispenser!!! Also, the freezer does not look to have the same capacity as our side-by-side. Requires us to use the fridge in the garage more. Also, the full width drawer on the inside is poorly designed. Both outer doors need to be opened to get to. Impossible when arms are full. Would rather have a 2nd set of split drawers like the set above it. Also, when outer doors are closing, they often close with a loud bang, particularly the left door. Why not have a "soft" auto-closing system like our kitchen drawers? This will allow the doors to close softly and automatically. Would we buy again? Not sure. We are big fans of Kitchen Aid and would likely do a lot more researching with other brands. We have never had a French Door design before and will not get it again. Thanks for asking for our opinion.

Regret buying

Bought this about two years ago as part of a complete kitchen redo. Regret buying it. Performs okay, but reliability is mediocre. Interior LED lights have failed twice and the icebox control arm constants falls off and is way too difficult to reconnect.

Cheap Construction and Poor Design

This is my second Built-in Kitchenaid Refrigerator and I am very disappointed. My last refrigerator could not be repaired because Kitchenaid stopped making parts for that model.Obvious planned obsolescence. This Kitchenaid appears to have incorporated cheaper materials including the case and shelves. The hinges squeak and we have had one of them replaced twice. Additionally the shelf space is woefully inadequate as are the shelves. The top shelf of the refrigerator immediately below the lights cannot accomodate tall containers as the space is constrained by the sloping roof of the interior. The ice on and off bar in the freezeer bucket is difficult to reach.

It's been 16 months and lights are out, torsion springs in the doors make big boing! noise every time we open the door and the ice maker level senser freezes up regularly. Frankly, disappointed. The level of quality for the price is a big disconnect.

Efficient but door problems

I love all the products KitchenAid makes but my refrigerator doors have spring problems. It makes a broken spring sound that gets worse and require a technician to come out and adjust it. Strange issue for such a greay company.

We have a smaller kitchen so we wanted a built in to save some space. We soon discovered that the freezer space is limited after emptying our old refrigerator. this was disappointing. Within the first few days the lights fell off the produce draw so we had to set up a service call. We are also surprised as to how hard the doors slam if you done hold them. Hopefully we wont have anymore issue going forward.

We recently moved and remodeled. Having had this frig before for 17 years didn™€™t cross our minds about anything else. We just bought another one for our new house never had any problems in 17 years so I will take another 17 any day. Kitchen aid is the best u can get in my opinion we have all kitchen aid and won™€™t get anything else you cannot go wrong with this frig u pay alot but nothing like subzero or viking my mom has subzero and it doesn™€™t compare

I have had this for almost two years, and nothing but problems. The freezer always freezes over, have to scrape off all the ice build up. The refridgerator portion doesnt stay cold, it constantly runs and never turns off.

Defective product + deceptive KA practice

Within a few short months of purchase, the left door spring gave out. Multiple repair visits but the problem never went away. The right door spring also gave out and on top of that, it does not close properly anymore. Fridge is about 18 months old and cost approximately $10,000. It's not acceptable. We have been told by a KA source that this has been a well known problem with this fridge and other KA french door fridges and their patch repairs are only temporary, there is no fix other than a replacement of the fridge. Based on the mulitple posts here and for other KA french door models, it appears this is in fact a very well known defect. Yet KA knowingly kept sending us service technicians who would conduct patch repairs throughout the warranty period. What about doing the right thing for the customer without having to spent countless hours with customer service and having repair people in and out. Is this what KA stands for? Customers are clearly saying they are dissapointed and going to social media to get somewhere - does it have to be this way? I feel deceived and question the integrity of KA - a company my family has stood behind for so many years with so many other products over the years.

Was without a fridge for 6 weeks due to pandemic closings but when my kitchen aide arrived I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Was concerned because my cabinet wood panels would not fit in any model so I bought stainless. Wish I had done this years ago. My kitchen is small unlike those in newer homes, and I have a French country vibe going on, but this refrigerator is GORGEOUS- roomy and can I say it again? GORGEOUS- Love it 10 out of 10. See for yourself

Terrific refrigerator

This refrigerator was installed almost 3wks ago. It replaced a 19yo kitchenaid which serviced us well. We™€™re so happy with the new as it fits into the same space as the old one, however has about a 15-20% more internal capacity, which is fantastic especially under these difficult times where we need to store more refrigerated items!!

Broken in less than a year, not worth the cost.

Common design flaw, LED lights not working in less than a year. Tech was able to fix it but needed to take the doors off to change the lights. Frozen food defrosting on the counter, expensive custom door panel on the ground (see photo). Note the cost of the LED light itself is over 60$ not including labor there are eight lights in this refrigerator, three were out in less than a year, 60$x8=480$ to replace your refrigerator lights. Product Manual states the lights will never need service. Buyer beware. This review will be posted on every home improvement sight I have visited during my 2 year remolding effort. I have all day and need to do something to deal with this frustrating mess.
