As many of the other 1 star reviews noted, after a very short time, the panel completely went out. It started with the turntable rotating the moment we would open it, then it stopped heating all together. Then finally the entire panel stopped working. It has nothing to do with a circuit or breaker. It is a very poorly designed and made microwave oven. Not at all worth the price.

It's a microwave. Does the job, but not worth the money. Wish we hadn't needed a built in. The actual inside space is okay, but kinda small. A 9Ã--9 covered dish is about the largest cooking dish it can handle.

I bought this microwave in March 2022 The interior top cavity of the microwave has developed significant rust, and the protective coating has deteriorated and peeled away. This condition appears to be a premature failure of the interior coating, rather than normal wear and tear. Given the location on the ceiling of the microwave cavity, I am concerned about safety, durability, and potential contamination during food preparation. This appliance has been used under normal household conditions and properly maintained. I would not expect this type of degradation in such a critical interior area within this timeframe. Based on the limited age of the unit and normal household use, this appears to be a premature material or coating failure rather than expected wear. The only thing they were willing to do is give me a $75 rebate. Don™€™t buy this one.

I replaced a similar unit that was about 20 years old. Same make, and pretty much the same model. This one is terrible for the operator.. You pretty much have to figure things out for yourself because the instructions are very, very vague. Not only that, but I had to go online to copy the user's manual as it only came with instructions for the microwave, which again, were very, very vague. At 800 plus dollars I guess I'll have to get used to it and go to college to learn how to use it...

Film on Control panel bubbling

Regressed panel controls. Back to the 1980 Future

Often newer isn™€™t better, and this is an example that design regressed to worse than before. Specifically, my prior GE monogram has a rotary knob that allowed quick advance of time or any setting. The knob was removed and replaced by the 1980™€™s membrane panel that require typical 5 solid inputs. So to select 1:45 time, one has to find and solidly push ™€œtime™€ membrane, enter 1, 4, and 5. Under the prior control, one just push the knob and turn it (advance) to 1:45 in 1 quick spin. It™€™s an advance back to the 1980™€™s.

Failed/Lemon GE CAFE Convection Microwave

This is a replacement microwave that has all the same features as previously purchased one in 2019, Cafe convection model. In fact they look identical except for the "Profile" name in the corner. I bought it because the size and stainless matched and fit the existing trim kit so I didnt need to replace that as well. Im hoping this unit lasts because I am SO VERY DISAPPOINTED with GE CAFE line. Luckily I had my other CAFE appliances serviced while under warranty. My previous CAFE microwave failed 2.5 years after installation. I had to pay for a new control panel which then failed again approx 2.5 years later, needing a new control panel plus a door switch. So I paid for a diagnostic of $143 and opted for new instead of a $500 cost to repair. New unit was about $800 which i installed myself into existing trim space. I am cautiously optimistic this one wont fail. GE was of no help and didnt seem to care that I was an extremely disappointed customer. I've never had an appliance fail before this. I follow care, cleaning and usage directions on all appliances. I believe my previous unit was a lemon and I only hope they have improved the reliability of their electronics. I continue to share my experience on social media because GE reputation has taken a nosedive for me.

Nice microwave with high end finish, panel issues

This was a replacement for my previous unit, in which the panel slowly began losing functionality - first the led panel lost hashes making the overall visibility of time and cook time not easy to read. Then slowly, the 1 quick cook button failed, then the start and stop button failed. Needless to say, the unit is sold with the panel, which makes for a very costly replacement. The new microwave has a lock feature which I imagine is helpful for being built in below a counter, and it has wifi. No issues so far and it seems to even better than the old one. Only time with tell with the panel.

Purchased this model and GE as I am limited to the cabinet size. I had the same previous model from GE, which was pathetic as only the Add 30 sec button worked in the entire panel of wonderful options that was provided! Got this NEW model that GE has for the size dimensions. Ordered on Cyber Monday, installed on Dec a week ago. It worked exactly for a WEEK. Microwave does not power up. Nope there is power supply to the switch that the microwave is plugged into. Just that BRAND NEW microwave decided to not work. Called GE support and the earliest someone can come to check is 2 days later. I should be giving NO STARS but then that is not possible as it is a mandatory field to fill hence 1 STAR. How hard is it for GE to provide a quality microwave?

Could have been an easy trim kit install but NO!

Instructions were excellent to install the trim kit for this microwave wave until they requested you remove a screw from the back of the microwave. They state the tools you need upfront which includes a Phillips #1 and #2 screwdriver. But when you try and remove the screw on the back of the microwave you cannot remove it with a Phillips screwdriver but it requires a security bit to remove this screw. Really? You couldn™€™t just put a Phillips head screw in that hole so we could easily remove it? I wasn™€™t familiar with a security screw and had no screwdriver to remove it. So had to go to Lowe™€™s and buy a large set of bits and a quarter inch screwdriver to make sure I had the correct size to get the screw out. Wasted a lot of time and had to buy a tool I will rarely use again because of this oddball piece of hardware. Once I got the screw out, the installation went smoothly and it looks great above our oven. It fit in the exact same spot as the KitchenAid microwave we replaced and the trim kit was exactly the same size so very happy with the way it looks installed. Now hopefully this microwave lasts longer than the two years the previous one did.

Had it for 3 weeks and have only used the microwave which works great. Have not used the convection feature. So the jury is still out. So far the only negative is the trim kit. It™€™s very expensive for a cheap piece of plastic ! ( my appliance salesperson told me it was metal when I initially questioned the expensive price )Very similar to my old kitchen aid trim kit and double the price !!!

Tried cooking a banana bread at 350 degrees™€¦came out soggy. Checked oven temperature with a standalone thermometer and it never got to 350. There™€™s a button labeled 425 degrees; I called support said oven would not go above 375. Then why is there a button labeled 425. I manually set the oven to 425 degree and used a standalone thermometer to test interior temp of oven. Never got above 350. Returned to store. Useless appliance. Also, buttons felt cheap.

I have no idea how to use the convection oven - tried it but nothing was cooked. So, I have an expensive means to heat water and leftovers. BUT it fit in the hole where the dead one was.

Not an upgrade over the 2011 model

I'm less than impressed with this microwave. Does it work- yes. However for being a Profile and charging Profile prices I would expect better. This one isn't nearly as nice as our old one that we got in 2011. This one is smaller on the inside and the touchpad isn't great. There is such a glare and you have to press hard to make a selection. They definitely cheaped out on the touchpad. Since I've only used it for reheating things the power is fine and does what it needs to do. Some of the features look nice but I haven't used many. I've tried heating things up at power level 7 and it's more like a level 4-5. I have the app hooked up and turned off notifications because it got old be alerted every time my husband heated up his lunch while I wasn't home. I'm glad to have a microwave that aesthetically matches our other appliances with the trim, but this isn't as good as what GE used to offer. Definitely not an upgrade. For some it may be, but for me it's just a MEH microwave. Doubt we will get GE in our next home if this is what we can expect.

This will be by 3rd microwave. The only reason why I'm repurchasing it is because of it's size. My kitchen was customized and it's the only microwave that fits the space. The controls malfunction after a while. Fixing it costs as much as new appliance. Extremely disappointed that I didn't purchase a warranty.

Waited 6 months for a replacement oven as the repair costs exceeded the cost of a new appliance-had to purchase again and panel went out AGAIN on the new one after 3 years. Dimensions of microwave and Trim kit misinformatio

New microwave was a replacement that was to be the same dimensions as the old one so it would fit into the existing cabinet. New one was smaller in width and length. That caused problems requiring modifications to the cabinet so the trim piece when attached would cover the opening. Not pleased with the info from GE that stated the new microwave was a replacement for the old GE Profile Convection and should fit the cabinet dimensions.

Still trying to figure out how to heat for 45 seconds instead of pressing 1 for 1 minute or 2 for 2 minutes! The print is so small one can barely read it all and all I™€™m not impressed with it!!!!

Unhappy and let down

We moved in our new house a little over two years ago. Our microwave was the only option from our builder. It is a nice microwave and we've had no complaints until recently. I started with the display missing a bar and now some buttons not working. The warranty was only for 1 year! We have researched the cost of repairing just the display and it is a ridiculous amount. For replacing this unit there is no way to match the opening of the trim ring without doing a direct replacement. I have never had a microwave have these problems in such a short period of time.

Panel problems in 2 years

We moved in our new house about 2 1/2 years ago. Our microwave was the only option from our builder. It is a nice microwave and we've had no complaints until recently. We can now no longer push many of the buttons and the display has a missing bar showing the time. My understanding at the time was that this microwave was about $900+. Our neighbor has the same issue. It makes me think that these GE microwaves are faulty in some way. I think the warranty was only for 1 year! It seems ludicrous that GE cannot make a quality product that will last longer than that. Now we are likely faced with a high repair bill or we will just search for a microwave from another brand.

I bought a G.E. convention microwave oven. It died just after 17 months of use. We are a family of two senior citizens with low use of the unit. At the time of its demise, we were waiting for the second door replacement for failure of the moisture seal. G.E. service was called about the unit only lasting for 17 months and was told that we should have bought an extended warranty. I do not recommend buying this unit.

Built to not last

Spent over $900 on this microwave 3 years ago and it is dead as of today. With a two people using this microwave no more than 6 times a week it is now dead in 3 years. We only used the microwave part and not the additional features. I bought this microwave because my parents have GE products that lasted years, but in today's GE that is not the case. This microwave was built to only last so long and not very long. It's truly disappointing. I'll be going with another brand most likely.
